What Is A Culture Setter Anyway?

Culture is a word it feels like we hear a lot but haven’t taken much time to consider. Maybe because it’s so big and expansive we don’t want to try to make it fit a definition. There’s sport culture, work culture, music culture, there’s even gang culture. So many cultures. But, what is it? In approaching the topic I want to let it be exactly what it is, and that’s everything. Culture is a way of life. It’s how things are done in an area, space, or realm. It’s the art. the food, the language. It’s the style, the attitude.

How is it set then? Well, most times to change something or to make it even better, we can’t do it at the level of consciousness that created it. We live in the results of who we were not who we are. To get beyond our ceilings (where our old thinking and behavior have gotten us feeling stuck) and set a culture (get it like we like), we need new knowledge, new experience. And there doesn’t have to be any pressure around that. With this in mind, nature never rushes yet everything gets done.

The Vision & The Experience

Some of the foundational principles of this platform are understanding, accountability, and authenticity. I want to be as honest and as accurate as possible about how we sometimes feel along the journey in order in order to build real community and camaraderie around the fact that if real change needs to happen, we can do it. Culturesetter.com envisions Culture Setting being a lot like jet setting. As much as we can, everywhere we go, everything we do. Appealing to the highest good. It’s just a lot of times our experience feels like it’s at odds with our vision because it isn’t going how we expected. To Culture Set sometimes means standing in the gap of the old and a new we haven’t yet seen. A tough yet potentially rewarding place to be. I actually almost titled this part The Vision vs. The Experience but I’ve learned to pick my words wisely because the stories we tell ourselves are so important. Instead of our vision being at odds with our experience, we can use the picture we had in mind to keep us going. Progress isn’t always visible but that doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.
